Evolution of Publishing Comes In A Vook?
November 20, 2010 by Profit Doctrine
Filed under Profit Lab, Successful Methods
As technology and innovation gets faster, it will only get better across all types of industries, and especially in the publishing industry. A new innovation the publishing industry has been unleashed, and it combines the imagination of books and the essence of video together as one, too become a Vook.
A vook is a new innovation in reading that blends a well-written book, high-quality video and the power of the Internet into a single, complete story. You can read your book, watch videos that enhance the story and connect with authors and your friends through social media all on one screen, without switching between platforms.
A vook is an entirely new integrated media experience that blends a book and video — bringing them together as one medium. You need either access to the internet via any computer, or a compatible mobile device. Vooks are compatible with both PCs and Macs and are also available as applications for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. Other formats, for other devices, are in development.
The application allows readers to interact with the content in four views:
* The read view presents each chapter in its traditional format while integrating logical video breaks.
* The watch view plays high-quality, full screen videos that bring the words and story to life. You can read along with the text in a pull down window.
* The mix view combines both the text and video on one screen.
Overall, there is no direct way to sign up automatically as a publisher, and put your own Vook together. It looks like you have to contact the company directly as an author. This will be a great medium for marketers who develop digital products, and have extremely high level of quality. Right now, there are major partnerships with high quality publishers where authors can showcase their work. It was said that corporate style publishing companies were dead. But with Vook, it looks like large publishing companies will have some use after all. Publishers can now do more for their authors in the areas of creating a marketable video, marketing the whole project, ensuring brand stabilization of the Vook. This definitely opens up doors to connect publishers and their authors again. However, I’d rather see more of an independent model, where any author who wants to independently publish can create a Vook using their own resources to create the book and video and thereby create a Vook.
Mission Review: Business Process Systemizing

MISSION REVIEW:
The ProfitDoctrine Mission Reviews will focus on the results of the monthly VISION. You can learn more about the VISION as a Profit Premium member. Mission Reviews will be results based only, and will only focus on that specific weeks achievements. Overall, I am hoping that my readers will get an accurate picture of what it really takes to be successful in their online business.
At ProfitDoctrine, I want to bring to my readers and members a higher level of transparency, and give them a real in-depth look into what my goals, objectives & aspirations are, and to get a factual and accurate look at whether or not the ProfitDoctrine Mission has been achieved.
The Mission Review will be a category in the Profit Lab section of our site. Mission Reviews will be conducted on a weekly basis, not necessarily on the same day of the week. But this section of our site will be denoted by our police man icon. I thought that would be pretty cool and provide as my countability watchdog.
Business Systemization: Create business processes and manual for each fundamental operation of my business.
Results: This process was to start last week on the first of the month. However, due to setting up various business accounts, and having to wait for verifications, and processes, I was not able to begin writing up these manuals right away. But I was able to provide a very rough outline, so that I can see what it looks like and to know what to expect.
Analysis: This Monday, I will be able to start outlining this process deeply. I have cleared out a lot of the non-revenue function items off my daily tasks list, whereas, now I can clearly see the major functions of my business. As of right now, it will entail 1.) Branding and Promoting Profit Doctrine, 2.) Massive Product Creation, 3.) Service Creation and promotion and 4.) Building relationships. I won’t go deeper into these now, as each of these are fluid, but this gives you a 360 degree overview.
ProfitDoctrine Site Development: Creating membership and product site frameworks to rapidly increase speed to market.
Results: I invested into a high quality WordPress theme called OptimizePress. It allows you to create high quality squeeze pages, and launch funnels. I am currently creating various funnels, and systematizing these tasks in order to streamline the process of creating the sites. I want to be able to focus on creating products so that all I have to do is upload to a ready-made site and add in my graphics.
Analysis: Outlining my processes and tasks, and ensuring that I have a stable membership sites & product sites is definitely time consuming. It’s easy to say to outsource this, however, if I’m using an easy to use platform, as well as making investments into products that say that any individual can do “X” in “Y” amount of time, then I should be able to do it. One mistake I don’t want to make is outsourcing just for the sake of outsourcing, and not knowing what is going on. Plus, I plan on systematizing my outsourcing as well.
Issues: One issue I have come across is with a membership plugin for WordPress. I have been using Wishlist Member for membership site creation. One of the issues that I have come across is that Wishlist hasn’t been tested on WordPress multi-site. Additionally, their support staff at Wishlist Products don’t support multi-site. This is very discouraging given the fact that WordPress future functionally as a Blog and CMS platform will most likely be fully multi-site focused. I know this will be the future, as I have already converted many of my other sites over to multi-site. I also plan to convert Profit Doctrine into multi-site as well, but after learning about this issue, and testing the process out myself on my testing platform, this is how I found out about the issue.
Ensuring compatibility between Wishlist Member plugin and WordPress multisite is a must. I will be doing research on ways and methods to make this possible. I really hope this can be looked into and fixed.
Summary: Overall, the past few weeks have gone smoothly. I have a clear vision of next week, and the rest of the month. I have been approved on various services, and accounts, and will be also adding in additional revenue streams very soon. Next, I will be looking for a solid programmer that I will be able to call on at any time. I think it’s almost time to start doing more research into finding that right virtual/outsourced worker who can join my team. Next week, I will be heavily focused on new product creation. Additionally, I will have to keep up with building relationships, guest blogging, and promoting. These are definitely tasks that are essential and really can’t wait to jump on this.

Security Features Of Email Autoresponders
November 4, 2010 by Darrin
Filed under News, Profit Pulse, Tips
Looking over assets that are essential to operating my online business, I view my email autoresponder software, Aweber, as an essential asset to my internet marketing operation. Years ago, I use to think that having an email autoresponder was not worth it, and would just be another wasteful expense. However, with advances in email technology, FTC rules and regulations, and growing support for the concept of the Opt-In. The Opt-In methods for email marketing is today seen more a security feature, vs. an unnecessary evil.
As I was going through my emails one day, I had noticed some really weird emails which looked like it game from an internet marketer. It had the classic sign of an promotional marketers email for a specific product, however, I noticed a few things that were not quite right.
One issue was the name of who the email was from. The email name was not one I recognized – not because of the domain extension, but the actual name of the person sending it. In todays marketing practices, it’s not that essential to have a business email, but it always is a plus.
Additionally, another factor that made this a suspicious email was the promotional link that was embeded in the email. The url of the link was definitely a link shortned link, but even with a shortened link, it did not look right, nor did the link make sense. The whole point of the shortened link concept is to reduce the size of a long and wordy link, down to a simple, one or two word phrase that is readable and makes sense.
Lastly, was the bottom of the email which provided the so-called “Opt-Out” area. This was the major sign that this was a fraudulent email. The email that was sent stated something to the following message:
Do not delete this message and do not report this message as spam. You are receiving this message because you signed up for one of my offers online somewhere. If you want to stop receiving messages, send me an email to: “xxxx@gmail.com”
Now, this wasn’t the exact message I received, as I already deleted it. I will most likely receive another one & post an update to this. But overall, this was the gist of the email. You see, with an Opt-In email auto-responder service, you are giving your express permission to receive emails from that person. Why I know this was a spam and fraudulent email was not only because of the first two issues regarding the name, but also, that opting out involves you being sent directly to that company for confirmation of being opted out of that specific email list. You should not be having to send your email for some sort of manual opt-out process.
I am now definitely a supporter and fan of using a quality email autoresponder service in your business. I see it more as a security feature in receiving emails even in your own personal life. The reason is that personal emails from friends and family are usually emails that you directly know who they are from, and why. In regards to emails that you don’t know where they are from, unless that email has a legitimate opt-out link and method that allows for “IMMEDIATE” opt-out, then it’s definitely a spam or email that can cause your computer harm. You can assess all of this without even looking at the content of the email. So, understanding the opt-out process is definitely a plus for older people who can easily be tricked into opening emails, and clicking on links, because they may not know these standards and rules to look out for, but also, just may not really look at what is being sent to them with a watchful eye.
So in your business, I definitely recommend the use of an quality Email autoresponder, not only for security purposes, but as there is growing support for people who know how to read emails they respect the ones that are from legitimate companies, where they can easily stop receiving an email or opt-in to receiving one.

Live Video Streaming Will Be Web Marketing 3.0 For 2011
October 1, 2010 by Darrin
Filed under Marketing Strategy, News, Profit Pulse, Successful Methods, Tips
Live video streaming is a tool that you should be using now in your internet marketing efforts. Streaming video live is growing rapidly and in the Internet Marketing world, is a tool that can be utilized to enhance your credibility, boost your social proof, increase sales, and engage directly with your customers and build relationships. Live video streaming will be the wave of the future in web marketing in 2011, mainly due to emerging technologies such as Facebooks social graph, companies such as Ustream, Justin.tv, YouTube, Livestream, and even online collaboration companies such as GoToWebinar, DimDim, ConnectSolutions and many more.
For Internet Marketers, it will be a very important tool to use so that you can now be more competitive, engage directly with the customer, build your credibility and increase your sales. In the online industry, there are customers with hypersensitive trust issues, due to some unscrupulous marketers. But now, with improved FTC Regulations and advancements in technology such as live video streaming, will not only improve the Internet Marketing industry, but will be a major factor in shaping it.
According to a comScore report, Americans are spending 648% (upward to 1.4 billion minutes) of their time watching live video online; services such as Stickam, LiveVideo, Ustream, Justin.tv and Livestream). Hulu has increased 75% and YouTube went up 68%. It goes to show that more viewers are not only seeking out but actively watching live streaming videos. According to the comScore report:
Live online video sites have not only been successful in building audience, but also in keeping that audience tuned-in. For instance, the average live streamed video view is 7% longer than the average online video view. If you narrow the audience to a specific demographic, though, live video really begins to prove its advertising value to media planners. Live video sites are 72% more likely to deliver the elusive demographic, males age 18-34, than the average online video site. In fact, males age 18-34 comprise almost 30% of the total live video viewing audience in our sample sites. Even without the same brand recognition as other portals and publishers, live video sites are able to retain viewers’ attention and deliver desirable audiences for advertisers.
As an online marketer, today you have your typical marketing methods which utilize a content based landing page to generate leads, or a mini-site that provides some detailed information on your product or service. A trend this year has been video sales pages, which has pushed out the need for a copywriter and takes on more of the concept of a direct-response pitch to your offerings. Another trend, which I think is now being a bit overdone, and a bit disingenuous is the use of “live” webinars, or shall I say pre-recorded and repeated Webinars that pretend to be live.
Some really good live webinar software include, WebEx, GoToMeeting. These two web-based softwares are premium and cost a bit. Free services include DimDim and Join.Me. In a future post, I’ll get into deeper detail of these and other online webinar platforms you can use in your marketing efforts. However, webinars are a useful live tool that is used by internet marketers where they can discuss and interact with potential customers in real time by showing an online powerpoint presentation, sharing their screens, have phone conversation and direct chat. Overzealous marketers tend to do these types of events multiple times per week, as well as sending out replays as part of their email marketing efforts. The problem ends up being over-saturation whereas, some marketers don’t engage with the potential customers enough, sending out too many replays, not taking enough time to answer all the customers questions in detail, falsifying their event by saying its live when it’s been pre-recorded. Another issue is that it’s an area where some marketers tend to hide behind their power point slides, and phone conversations, and thereby become a telemarketer rather than a marketer that should be engaging and building relationships with their visitors.
So after the long sales page, we had video sales pages, and then the trend of live webinars. Now, with live video streaming, marketing efforts will come to the light. In streaming live video, an internet marketer can launch their product or service in real time and potential customers can actually see who they are dealing with, what’s actually happening, whether or not the dreaded “crashing of the website during launch” actually occurs, and get real time data and information directly from the product owner. Marketers can interact and engage in discussions live during this period in the launch phase. A recent product launch by Chris Farrell Mike Filsaime called AffiliateDotCom was an example of a live video streaming launch. They utilize the streaming video service called Ustream, and combined that with a social proof element using the social graph feature provided by Facebook. That feature allowed only purchasers of their product to be able to provide a Facebook “like” and “comment” which would be featured on the site. Others who did not purchase, simply would get an error response stating about only purchasers of AffiliateDotCom could make a comment. This strategy allows for verifiable, and transparent and open social proof of not only sales of the product, but the actual inner workings of an internet marketing product launch.
Note: I personally saw this myself, and at the time there were about 1,500 actual Facebook people who placed a comment, signifying they had purchased the product. With 1,500 people in the first 6 hours of launch at a $1997 price point, I can attest to at least at $2,995,500 in sales for their product launch on the high end and at least $562,500 in sales on the low end if everyone of the buyers took the payment plan. Disclosure: I witnessed this during the beginning of their launch on 8/24/2010, and these figures are based on what was researched, and estimated based off the information provided by AffilaiteDotcom.
So, look out for more live video streaming launches as a marketing tool. I think this is definitely a way not only to market your products effectively, but when discussing what it really takes to be an Internet Marketer, a person can now really see it and experience themselves in real-time, streamed live right in their own homes.

Daily Doctrine: 10 Tips To Boost Your Blog Performance
September 16, 2010 by Darrin
Filed under Daily Doctrine, Profit Lab, Tips
While working from home as an internet marketer, I have found various tips to improve my blog performance. I am implementing these ideas in my business practices to improve my productivity, focus on my initiatives, and increase my speed to market.
10 Tips To Boost Your Blog Performance
Create a Blog Framework: This will allow you to categorize what your standard blog posts will be about. You are basically creating a vision for your blog. My blog framework consists of multiple categories, but based on 3 sections: 1.) Profit Pulse, 2.) Profit Lab, and 3.) ProfitDoctrine Premium.
Remove Distractions: Only answer email at a specific time of day. Put your phone on silent. Turn off the television. It may be good to take a 20 minute mediation break prior to starting so that you can visualize and focus on what you are about to do.
Clean Your Desk: The night before, ensure you clean your office space or work area, so that you a clean environment to work from. Sometimes, I like to work directly from my bed. I utilize a laptop platform that looks like I’m receiving breakfast in bed. But I ensure to have my bed made up, and then I begin to work. I also have office space, where I can go to at any time, and simply go to it & conduct business in an organize & efficient manner.
Musical Motivation: Music may not be for everyone. But some tunes can help stimulate the mind, motivate you, provide various ideas. It doesn’t really matter the type of music, but what is most interest to you.
Daily Schedule: Create a prioritization schedule. Write out what are the main priorities, what items are essential, and the non-priorities for the day only. Focus on each section separately, and complete those tasks in order. Once you get done with the priority tasks, your day will run much smoother & faster.
Outsource: If your funds are right, outsource the tasks that you either have trouble doing, or tasks that will take up time and that you want to get done right away. Outsourcing will allow you to focus on major tasks that need to get done.
Research: The mind needs to be stimulated with information. You should have a set of research sites, materials or information that you look at prior to blogging for the day. This will allow you to spark new ideas, and provide you an idea of what’s happening out there in the interwebs.
Plan For Tomorrow: At the end of the day, plan out your strategy for tackling any issues. Write out your daily schedule. Prepare anything today so that you can jump right to it tomorrow. This is the process of being efficient.
Have Fun: Sometimes, you need to take a small break. Since you are working from home, you may not be getting out too much as a blogger. Rent a Netflix move, take a walk, or go jogging. Sometimes, you have to get away to come back 10 x times stronger.

How To Become a Results Based Internet Marketer
September 16, 2010 by Darrin
If your goal is to start drastically improving your achievements and seeing quality results from your internet marketing efforts, then you should quickly start assessing your business practices right now. As you will learn from reading ProfitDoctrine, we are dedicated to providing an accurate picture of what exactly we are doing to grow our online business. ProfitDoctrine is like a science, conducting various experiments, documenting our research, creating hypothesis, executing a set of operations to achieve a specific result. However, none of that is possible without a set of standards that we employ.
How To Grow Your Internet Marketing Business
- Review/Rewrite Your Business Plan: Many say you don’t have to have a business plan. Some people may already have business plans, some have already started their businesses, but don’t feel the need to have a business plan. I personally don’t think you need a formal business plan to start your business, however, it is good to have one to be able to create a focused strategy. Additionally, if after your first product, whether or not you have generate revenue, you should create at least a short term or 3-year business plan outlook. The goal here is to take a serious assessment of what your strategy is, document it, and have it as a base of foundation of how you will run your business. But as a measuring tool, you will then have the ability to look back on this months later, and can see a focused result. What you need to do now, is update your business plan on a quarterly basis. This will allow you to keep your business innovation healthy & keep the platform you created thriving.
- Build Relationships: Develop your pitch. Be able to speak succinctly about your course offerings. When you speak to people in your conversations, be able to quickly turn their issue into a problem that can be solved with one of your products – but ensure not to do it so that it feels like you are dragging them to your sales pages. Start communicating widely with experts in your niche or field.
- Niche Tunnel Vision: Don’t be a niche hopper. Perfect a set of products within one niche. Become marketable based on that specific niche. Once you are recognized, immediately start growing into another niche to expand your product lines. This way, you are focused on specific product development without trying to always figure out the “next big thing.”
- Make Incentives & New Offerings Systematic: Provide high quality deals to your consumers. Offer pricing specials to loyal customers and repeat buyers. Ensure to do this on a timely and consistent basis throughout the year. You want to ensure there is no broken line in the communication flow of offering a “just for you special.”
- Build Trust By Offering Value: Always provide quality products and services. Do whatever it takes. Ensure that you abide by all regulations. Don’t try to hide behind issues or concerns of your offering. Be up front & state what those problems. Remember, your product may not be for everyone. Share that truth with them, and they will respect you more.
When you notice results in your business, what specifically was the operations, tasks, or things that you did to get those results?

Know Your Numbers
September 15, 2010 by Darrin
Filed under Profit Lab, Successful Methods
While working as a store manager for the number 1 supermarket in New England, my boss at the time, provided me with some advice that I have utilized in almost every avenue of life, whether it be on the job, in school, even in relative personal situations. As a store manager for a supermarket company, I was responsible for overseeing a $100 million a year business. To be a store level manager at a young age was definitely an experience, it also acknowledged that I had talents in the areas of communication, dealing with people, running a mult-million dollar operation and how to make sales. However, being in a corporate environment can also be a detriment, especially when you are not being recognized for successful efforts and achievements, slow upward mobility, and low pay. Seriously, if a 1 store generates $100 million a year, and you as a manager is making less than $50,000 a year, there’s definitely an issue. But one thing the head store manager stated to me was, “Always Know Your Numbers.”
Knowing your numbers in the business was an essential part of being “noticed” as an effective manager. It didn’t matter if your sales were down for the week, it didn’t matter if customers were complaining, it didn’t matter employees were on a rampage. Yes, those were all issues you had to address of course, but that was your problem. What matter to corporate and what matter to your District Manager was whether you knew all your numbers. Your numbers included:
- Daily & Weekly Sales
- Number of Employee Hours spent
- Weekly Expenses
- Main Products on Sale
- Percentages Relative To Each Area
- Next week projections
If you were able to quickly know your numbers, connect that to any issues the store was having, and project future outcomes, you were a genius, you were respected, and you were recognized for that week. But, you had to continually prove yourself over and over again, all by knowing your numbers.
Although I reject that “knowing you numbers” should provide respect and recognition, it should be combined with achievements, and timely rewards of upward mobility, but that’s a story for another day. In rergards to knowing your numbers, it’s something as an Internet Marketer you should be a measure you need to be calculating, addressing, and analyzing on a daily basis.
In this series, I’m going to be discussing specifically about knowing your analytics. Website traffic is the machine that will keep your business going. The more traffic you have, the higher the potential for your success. Traffic does not guarantee success, but it definitely will provide a higher opportunity for you to achieve success. In the development of ProfitDoctrine, I wanted to ensure that I have a method of analyzing traffic results and have a method of having real time analysis and results. I have implemented a some quality resources that will allow me to implement a sound traffic strategy which will include measures to analyze and conduct SEO optimization, a Backlinking strategy and more. The resources I’m currently using are:
Profit Doctrine Traffic Generation Resources
- Visitor Maps: Displays Visitor Maps with location pins, city, and country. Includes a Who’s Online Sidebar. Has an admin dashboard to view visitor details.
- Clicky Statistics: Clicky is a real time web analytics software. It’s boasts tons of features, however, it’s only useful as a paid option. I would recommend not setting it up on your site until you are 100% ready to launch your product, otherwise, you are putting a trial use to waste. You can receive tons of real time data such as: short url stats, clicks on links and content, country location, real time visitors, and goals. Definitely provides a great clean wordpress dashboard.
- WordPress Stats: Automattic created its own stats system, to focus on just the most popular metrics a blogger wants to track and provide them in a clear and concise interface. The focus here is simply visitors by Day, Week & Month, as well as on Posts and pages. This is effective for getting a brief overview of what your largest day is and your current days tally.
- Woopra: Woopra is a comprehensive, information rich, easy to use, real-time Web tracking and analysis application. I joined this service when it was in Beta when it first came out. I’m glad I did. There is a free and paid version. I think this service is effective specifically when conducting launches, running blog contests, or you want to understand traffic analysis on a specific posts you just published and want to see the results on a timely basis. Woopra is definitely known for their location based accuracy.
- Google Analytics: Track your WordPress site easily and with lots of metadata: views per author & category, automatic tracking of outbound clicks and pageviews.
- Majestic SEO: provides Competitive Link Intelligence to SEO specialists. Very cool dashboard features, and gives some really heavy duty backlinking anslysis. It also has a comparative feature so you can see where your site is compared to your peers.
- WP Click Tracker: Tracks link clicks from hrefs in posts and pages. Awesome graphical dashboard where I can track popular clicks, click by day and hour, and to understand unique clicks vs. the total clicks.
One high quality traffic stats plugin that I want to use on my site is Wp-Stats-Dashboard by Dave Ligthart. However, this plugin has major conflicts on the WordPress 3.0 platform. I have sent a notice to Dave in regards to this issue, however, it has yet to be addressed. WP-Stats-Dashboard is a highly effective, rich graphical interface that tracks stats along with many of your social media networks. However, once WP-Stats-Dashboard is installed, it disables the Ajax drop down menus in your dashboard – a very important feature of WordPress 3.0. Additionally, since it doesn’t have it’s own separate dashboard page and link on the dashboard menu, it takes up a lot of space, and slows down the loading of everything else in your dashboard. Essentially, when your dashboard is loading, it will freeze up. I would suspect the only way to use this plugin freely, is to get rid of everyone of your plugins, and use this plugin ONLY on a vanilla install. Therefore, if you want any other features to actually work on WordPress, I can’t recommend WP-Stats-Dashboard until those issues are fixed.
These are all the traffic based resources I use to analyze my traffic stats, and to get a real-time look at what’s happening on my site. In the next series, I’ll discuss what I am using for analyzing affiliate traffic and revenue, sales, and other tools and resources to “know my numbers.” Do you know your numbers?
What resources, software, and tools do you use in your online business? Leave a comment and provide some details on what you use for Traffic Analysis, Link Analysis, Revenue Analysis, Sales Analysis, Expense Analysis. Any tool or resource you use in your online business, let us know. I’ll create a table of resources based on the information you provide.

Mission Review: Preparing For Blog Launch
September 15, 2010 by Darrin
Filed under Mission Review, Profit Lab
MISSION REVIEW:
Content Development: Complete blog posts for phase 2 by next Friday.
Results: I am currently on track to complete the 2nd phase of blog post creation. Currently, I am creating over 5 blog posts daily.
Analysis: I utilize my blog plan framework, which outlines in editorial style, the various of blog post categories, and types of posts I need to create. I came across a wordpress plugin, which will create an editorial style calendar, which possibly maybe I could implement to make myself more efficient. I may test this out at some point.
Did you remember to write a post for next Tuesday? What about the Tuesday after that? WordPress doesn’t make it easy to see when your posts are scheduled. The editorial calendar gives you an overview of your blog and when each post will be published. You can drag and drop to move posts, edit posts right in the calendar, and manage your entire blog.
ProfitDoctrine Site Development: Configure any outstanding plugin extensions. Add any additional content pages.
Results: I have provided any necessary maintenance. I have been proactive in addressing unstable plugins by directly communicating with their owners and plugin owners have been quite responsive. I have created additional content pages, however, some special pages will need to be created at a later date, regarding the membership pages, and pages specific to the site.
Analysis: Stay on top of issues that arise and address those issues directly and efficiently. You need to be proactive in your business, and address problems head on.
Issues:
The current issues I forsee is with growth of the site. I want to ensure a quality user experience for my readers, and do not want that experience to be jeapordized. If traffic grows heavily to the site, based on my sites current configuration which is using self-hosted wordpress on a shared server, there could potentially be issues with slow load times, or even the site may go down due to overload. I have already experienced what the effect of a being on a shared server can do. For example, another user of my hosting company, Midphase, who was on the same shared server was utilizing over the amount of bandwidth they were allocated. This ended up having the entire server crash and everyone on the shared server account suffered. After speaking with Midphase support, I was told the only thing they could do is 1.) suspend the other persons account (which they did), and service would go back to normal, 2.) I could opt to move to another one of the shared servers (but it would cause downtime for me personally), or 3.) Purchase a virtual private server (this is more costly, and doesn’t get all the same features of the shared server, unless you pay even more).
So, knowing this already, I have begun research on optimizing my site and finding out what is necessary to implement a CDN strategy on my site. This means, using a content delivery network framework to increase load times of images, videos, and even content. This will not only speed up my site, but allow me to be more efficient. I am already two steps ahead on preparing for this strategies, whereas I have a Amazon S3 for storage, will be using Amazon Cloud for distribution. I will discuss more about this method later. Another part of the issue is getting all the wordpress plugins, linking strategies correct to implement, add and distribute with no issues. This is currently a big issue I intend to look into further.
Summary: Overall, this week is on schedule. A slight snag where I did spend time having to learn a bit more about implementing a CDN strategy. Sometimes frustrations can lead to enlightenment. My frustration of when the site went down due to something beyond my control allowed me to quickly learn about creating a CDN strategy for my site, as well as start thinking about what is necessary to get it done. This ties in with my analysis above regarding, when issues arise address them quickly. One recommendation I think I will start to do is creating my own personal Issues/Ticket platform, so I can monitor ongoing, upcoming, current and fixed issues. This way I can see over time what issues I incurred, and whether or not they’ve been addressed, and it’s something I can share with my readers. My readers may have insights or resources that can fix situations like this as well. Next week should only get better.

Profit Doctrine Lifestyle: Preparation and Planning

When you read about successful internet marketers, it’s always promoted as super rich, trips to Vegas, an astronomical amount of cash flow. You get the pictures of million dollar homes, expensive cars, pictures of six figure, and seven figure bank accounts. Yes, the internet lifestyle is showed to you this way to motivate you. There are some marketers who absolutely have achieved this wealth and can legitimately validate their achievements. There are some marketers who love photoshop, portray an inaccurate picture of the revenue they are generating and the lifestyle they are living. However, in both these instances one thing that you really never get a good picture of is getting an understanding of what it was like for them in the beginning. You never get a snapshot of the expenses that it takes to achieve those results. For example, many of the top gurus have high overhead with having an office, a staff, paying out premier and personal affiliates, partnerships. These are all great things to keep the operation they have built going, but also, that type of operation also costs a great deal of money.
As a subscriber to ProfitDoctrine, I aim to provide an accurate picture of what it takes from the beginning and living the lifestyle. I won’t necessarily be hyping the positives, I also want to show the negatives, but more importantly and more truly the lifestyle behind the scenes. I want to show that generating only $100 in a day could be considered a successful day. I want to showcase being able to eat at the local diner as a celebration dinner for my efforts is part of the internet lifestyle. I also want to showcase the lonely days, where, the time goes by and you are wondering whether or not what you are doing is worth it. To showcase whether the new product I developed, whether or not people will love it. Here, at ProfitDoctrine, you will see the ups and downs.
I’m almost at the point of launching this site. Currently, there is no base “blog launch plan” created. I guess it’s something I should think about. However, I’ve been creating blog posts for the past week, and it has been challenging, but has me definitely focused. One of the frustrations is that I seriously want to be putting in more time developing my products, and service offerings. However, I know that building this foundation as ProfitDoctrine will be my platform to showcase what I’m doing on a daily basis. I think once I get all the blog posts complete, I will have more focused attention on new product development, focused on building a network of marketing relationships, a following, as well as a quality & happy customer base. I have already started this on the customer side, which has brought me this far today. Developing this blog by myself is definitely a stepping stone.
To this point, I have shut myself out of regular stuff like watching too much t.v., chatting online, Facebook, MySpace, going out and partying, traveling. Even responding to emails has been cut out, all to spend more focused attention of the goals and tasks at hand. It is definitely an awakened experience, whereas, if I was on a regular job, it technically would be the same thing, but I’m getting 200 times more done doing things my way. On the job, I’d be seriously only working about 2 hours out of a 8 – 10 hour day, the rest of the time is answering emails, chatting, schmoozing, and looking for jobs, etc. I wouldn’t say I’m bored, I would say the challenge is to try & think of ways to do things faster. So I am naturally drawn to creating mini-systems of processes and tasks. In every task I am doing in conducting the business, I am starting to think about it systematically, from creating a post, to promoting the post, creating a product, my outsource methodology, the way I want to network and communicate with others. Many marketers will say to simply take action and do something, or just get it started. That’s great, however, when it comes time to compete and when it comes time to really see high quality results, you want to have a plan in place.
So right now, there is no glamour, there is no fun. There is challenges, and goals to be met. Right now, I’m happy about being on track. By Friday, September 17th, I should be done with the second phase of my blog posting plan, and on to the third phase. Soon, the blogging will be a daily function of business, rather than the preparation of a blog launch or development initiative.
Let me know what is your current lifestyle this very moment. Please write in a comment with a reference to what your lifestyle is like this very day. What is your internet lifestyle like?
